Afternoon Tea – Celebrate in Style!

I love a reason to celebrate, whether it’s for a birthday, anniversary, baby shower, hen party, getting together with friends is heart warming and good for my soul. What else is good for my soul? Tea. I have enjoyed tea for as long as I can remember. Putting together my favourite things, friends, tea and obviously cake – it’s a huge neon flashing pointer to my favourite way to celebrate! Afternoon Tea!

There are so many places you can enjoy afternoon tea, from small boutique tea rooms, luxurious hotels to department stores, the experience of afternoon tea has become so varied. It makes it all the more exciting deciding where to go.

20160503_211624I have had afternoon tea at five-star hotels in London and a local tea room – although the experiences were different, they were all equally enjoyable.  I loved getting dressed up and seeing the exquisite hotels and their sumptuous furnishings.IMG-20160503-WA0009 Using proper fine china teacups, tea pots and silver strainers and teaspoons, was a far cry from the mismatched dinner plates and plastic child proof tableware we have at home! It was cake-escapism at it’s finest!

At home, a round of sandwiches can be made and quartered in under a minute, they aren’t pretty – not at all like the perfectly cut finger sandwiches we were served. The beautiful little desserts were just a picture on the plates – so pretty and neat.

Celebrations should be memorable, special, something a little bit different. I think afternoon tea certainly ticks all these boxes.

The way the food is served and the way the teacups are so unobtrusively refilled means that your focus is on enjoying each others company. I have loved being able to share such treats and experiences with friends and I hope for many more celebrations to come!

Have you been to afternoon tea? What was your favourite part?

  1. I am looking for an afternoon tea place to visit while my sister is over visiting me. I haven’t been to one yet and I am very excited about going. We are going to celebrate my birthday and what I am looking forward to the most is the tea 🙂

  2. Ahh this sounds lovely, I think my best afternoon tea was with my friends at Harrods. I have also won a competition where I can bring a friend for afternoon tea with hotel chocolat. I can’t wait to go there!
